Technology

From the very beginning Veolia Water has been committed to running Research and Development programs that focus on the problems facing its customers - local authorities, industrial customers and domestic consumers.

Working in close co-operation with the operating and technical teams, the research programs have three aims:

  • anticipating customers' needs;
  • reducing costs;
  • continually innovating by developing customized and environmentally friendly new technologies

Population growth and rapid urbanization are a part of our fast-changing world.

At Veolia Environnement, we know that we can improve people's living conditions. For the past 10 years and more, we have stepped up our investment in Research and Development.

Our challenge is to look ahead, to envisage new, innovative solutions that will protect both human health and the environment.

  • To extend access to water, significant advances have to be made in water resource management technologies, such as seawater desalination and wastewater reuse.
  • Efficient waste management will help to improve hygiene in the cities and prevent environmental pollution. Waste recycling will limit the use of raw materials.
  • Well-organized, non-polluting mass transit systems are needed to make major cities livable again.
  • And climate change is not inevitable, provided that energy use can be optimized so that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced.

These are the issues facing our worldwide network of 600 experts, supported through collaborative partnerships with industry, and university and government research institutions.

Our researchers and their partners are strengthening our position as the world leader in environmental solutions and guaranteeing our future performance on behalf of all our stakeholders.

Regarding Water issues, we are especially working on new technologies focusing on :
